Message from Andrew Selley

The video below will help you to prepare for the Passover meal, and we list everything you will need after the video.

How to Prepare for the Passover Meal

Step 1

You Will Need
  • Unleavened Bread aka Matzah (How to make your own, it’s easy). *However, any bread will do if you are not making your own.
  • Grated Apple
  • Nuts (example: Almonds or Mixed Nuts)
  • Golden Syrup
  • Cinnamon Powder
  • Fresh Bitter Herb (example: Coriander)
  • Fresh Green Herbs (example: Spinach)
  • Salt
  • Lukewarm Water
  • Chicken, Shank or Lamb Bone
  • A Piece of Bread [hide this somewhere in your Kitchen]
  • Wine or Grape juice
  • Candle or Torch
  • White Napkins or Serviettes

Step 2

How to Make Unleavened Bread

Click here to see a recipe for making your own Unleavened Bread (Matzah).

It is really easy! You will need:

  • 2 cups + 2 TBSP of flour
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
  1. Combine the salt and flour together in a large bowl. Stir in the water until the dough comes together. Knead for 5 minutes.
  2. Pre-heat skillet over medium-low heat.
  3. Pinch off 7 pieces of dough and form into balls. Roll out each piece on a lightly floured surface (approx 6-7-inch/15-18cm ovals).
  4. Cook on a hot skillet for 2 minutes on each side. Serve or store covered.

Step 3

Prepare 5 Five Bowls
  • Bowl 1: Mix the grated apple and nuts with some golden syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder
  • Bowl 2: A handful of fresh coriander
  • Bowl 3: A few leaves of spinach
  • Bowl 4: Mix the lukewarm water with a dash of salt
  • Bowl 5: Place a chicken bone

We do encourage you to join us in this special time, to join together as a family and to break bread.

Don’t miss it! Join us on Facebook Live, 10 April at 6:30pm.
