Preacher's Club

The structure of Preachers Club:

  • We meet about 8 times a year on a Saturday morning from 9-12am.
  • The first half of the morning is dedicated to equipping everyone attending with practical lessons in preaching. The focus of the equipping will range from preaching to the lost to small group ministry and all the practical nuances of public speaking in between.
  • The second half of the morning is to give an opportunity for anyone who prepared a 10-minute sermon, based on a topic we gave them, to preach it. This happens in a group setting and after one has shared, the rest of the group gives constructive feedback, in order to stir up and shape the gift of preaching in the preacher. An assessment framework is provided as a reference for the feedback.
  • We have fellowship and forge support between the preachers.
  • We present preachers opportunities to exercise the gift they are upskilling: in Sunday morning stewardship teachings, midweek community groups, various ministries and outreaches.

Why you need to be equipped

We as JoshGen have an understanding of the five-fold ministry Jesus gave to the church, expressed in Ephesians 4:12-13 (ESV) to equip the saints [everyday believers] for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.

The way to build the church as Jesus wants us to is to equip everyday saints to be partakers in His mission. Preachers Club plays a crucial role in equipping the church to bring in the harvest.

The great John Wesley said: “Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on Earth.”

So what we envision for Preachers Club is to acquire as many as possible preachers from our church who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, so they may shake the gates of hell in Cape Town and set up the kingdom of heaven in their families first and also in their communities.

Practical outcomes of Preachers Club:

  • Equip preachers out of a simplistic reading of the Bible into a deeper, coherent understanding of the Bible.
  • Equip preachers to draft a proper preach.
  • Equip preachers to present a preach eloquently in a church setting
  • Equip preachers to preach to the lost
  • Equip preachers to not just speak well, but to minister by the leading of the Spirit.
  • Send them out to preach
