Ikhaya Le Themba

Enthused by the concept that it is better to give than to receive, a team of concerned volunteers came together in 2003, to provide home-based care to the terminally and chronically ill in Khayelitsha. This step resulted in the birth of Ikhaya Le Themba, a non-profit organisation whose name in English means, ‘Home of Hope.”

Since then Ikhaya Le Themba has been building, discipling, empowering and caring for the community. This has also provided them with the exciting opportunity to share the good news of Christ and to see countless healings, salvations and lives changed for Jesus.

Ikhaya Le Themba serve the poor in practical ways, which include: a soup kitchen; a HIV support group; home-based care worker training; skills and enterprise development and critical maintenance aid, as well as Bible teaching and worship and interactive fun times with orphans and vulnerable children.
