Family, Food & Passion | Joshgen

Brazil Outreach Blog | 21 November 2011

We may not all speak the same language and we may not be from the same land - but Familia reigns supreme in Brasil :)

They may eat their avocado with ice-cream while we have it with pizza, but in my book - Brasilians are still totally amazing! I am still marvelling at the fact that we can fly half way across the world annd stay with people we´ve never met before and still be ´Familia de Deus´ (Family of God).

And of cause with family comes love and passion. These people are very passionate, loving and vibrant individuals whose friendships, relationships and worship to God bear testament to their huge capacity to love. I love their passion - at various time during our travels in and around Sao Paulo - our ´tour guides´ would stop randomly on the side walk and discuss things...i wouldn´t have a clue what is being said but it would seem very heated since hands would be flaring everywhere. Then suddenly the boisterous talk would end and we would continue in the exact same direction we were walking in the first place - LOL go figure!

And apart from their family love and passion - this place is food heaven - everything is covered in cheese (even their hotdogs - see picture below!) and made with love....needless to say i have found my happy place in this cheesy place and may never leave hahaha!

This same passion is expressed when they discuss their soccer. Santos, Sao Paulo, Palmieras and the Corinthians are all clubs which many support...and if you don´t support their team - be sure that they will do their utmost to convert you! Beware - you have been warned!

Amiidst all this passion, liveliness and vigor for life - I have come to relaise that no matter the state of the country and the greatness of the local culture - these people need God and in fact crave HIM. They are faithfful in their pursuit of their King and there are many who are in desperate need of being introduced to him.

It is because of this that we have come - to see lives changed and touched and there has been breakthrough. In the last 3 services at Berakhot - 4 people have come to know Jesus - and that is what it´s all about. Also We had the priviledge being present as Joe and his wonderful wife Monica were prayed into the Berakhot church as elders.

How awesome is God. William and the rest of the team have been so dependant on the Holy Spirit and we have had many prophetic words emerge concerning the church and the people in it. God is doing a new thing here - awakenings and rebirths. We continue to prophesy to the dead bones and speak the life of Christ into the hearts, minds and lives of these churches and people in Sao Paulo. What a great city.

Tomorrow morning we leave via bus for the sleepy surfer town of Peruibe. Who knows what we wil encounter there....We are expectant. Please pray with us for amazing things.

Peace and Love

xoxo
